Tuition Support Program
The Mathematics Department offers Teaching Assistantships and tuition waivers for qualified graduate students. More information regarding the Tuition Support Program can be found at the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
This is the primary means by which we support graduate students at MU.
Student who did not receive their K-12 education in the U.S.A. (or educated in a small number of other qualifying countries), must take a language assessment administered by MU to determine eligibility for the Teaching Assistantship Program. Students scoring 28 points or more on their TOEFL are exempt from testing.
International student must fulfill a one semester residency requirement at MU before being allowed to teach. However, the department can apply for a waiver under certain conditions.
Departmental Fellowships
The Department has a number of Departmental Fellowships that typically carry a stipend of up to $16,000 per year. These fellowships are awarded to incoming graduate students and are nonrenewable beyond one or two years.
